Magician. Magic Joe stage magic show

Biography

The art of magic has long been a passion of Joe's ever since he saw his first magic show at the young age of five. This fueled his love for the ancient art and by ten years old he was performing all around his home state of South Dakota. Over the years he has befriended numerous famous magicians and has twice had the privilege of being invited  to the world famous Academy of Magical Arts in Hollywood, CA (aka the Magic Castle).  As an active member of the Society of American Magicians and over 25 years of performing experience Joe has developed a show that is unique, comical, and entertaining for all ages.

As a young magician his first passion was close-up and strolling magic. At an early age he separated himself from other magicians by developing a stage show that was both big and interactive. Audience participation directs each show and allows for a continuously changing theatrical experience.

Joe grew up in a family of 6 where he was the baby and favorite of course, "wink.". If you asked any of his family, the phrase "pick a card" or  "watch this new trick" were frequently muttered requests. That being said, everyone was supportive of Joe's dreams of becoming a famous magician.

Along with traveling the U.S. as a magician, Joe is also a registered nurse at an intensive care unit in his hometown. Performing magic for patients has proven to be helpful in lifting their spirits as well as recovery time.

In recent years Joe's lovely wife Brianna and adorable bunny Bailey have joined the show.  They frequently put up with getting sawed in half, popping out of boxes, and battling long days on the road. They are crucial members to the Magic Joe team.

With comedy at the core of every performance Joe has developed a unique show that includes illusions, mind reading, fire eating, hypnotism and mystery for all. Audience interaction plays a large role which helps make each performance new and exciting every time. Be sure to have Magic Joe Productions at your next event! This is the show that leaves everyone wanting more.

American News does Q & A with Magic Joe

Q: Tell us a little about your business.

A: Since I was a young boy, I have had an interest in magic and all things related. Whenever possible, I jumped at the opportunity to watch any magician or variety act that was on TV, performing at the Brown County Fair or at Arts in the Park. When I was about 5-years-old, my mother took me to see my first magic show in Aberdeen. I do not recall the name of the magician, but I remember being very intrigued and knowing that magic was something that I wanted to pursue.

Q: What makes your business unique?

A: Magic is one of the oldest art forms, but finding a magic shop or someone in South Dakota that performs magic is quite rare. Even though resources are limited, I have still had success in creating a show that is unique and fun for all ages. I have nearly 20 years performing experience and I never stop learning. My show is always changing, usually just one illusion at a time, but it still keeps me busy. A typical show usually lasts about 45 minutes to an hour. Though I love the mystery involved in magic, most of my illusions are performed with comedy at its core and heavy audience interaction. I think this is what makes the show fun and unique.

Q: What products or services do you offer?

A: Comedy is at the core of nearly every trick. That being said, the show encompasses many amazing illusions, such as mentalism, productions, animations, cards, levitations and even the classic sawing a lady in half illusion. I am currently working on a new illusion that involves a floating/dancing hanky that will be able to fly across the stage and dance at my command. I’m very excited to introduce this new illusion in my future shows.

Q: What are you most proud of?

A: I am most proud of the versatility of the show. The show can adapt to all audiences. It’s not just for kids, but adults as well. I enjoy performing shows for all types of special events, such as Christmas parties, fairs, festivals, and family reunions.
